Andy took this photo and another one, for Tom. He wanted some city lights scenes to frame and hang on his wall. Tom and I love them.

This is a mushroom that was under a log. That’s why you can see the lichen hanging down. Andy tells me it was the best angle to get close enough. The colour is gorgeous I reckon.

“Rosie, the Pandani Bushwalking Club botanist, told me about the lichen flower. In the bowl shaped thing of the flower are the spores. When a rain drop lands in the bowl the spores get shot out all over the place; that’s the way it’s designed. I’m sure she explained it more intelligently than that, and that she(Rosie) would probably wince at my interpretaion.”

“Another walk with the Pandani Bushwalking Club. This is the flower of some lichen. I found it while we were looking for little bits of coloured tape on trees to guide us through the bush to a mountain. Sun 15th June, 2008.”

I remember Andy taking this photo on the way to Phillip Island, 12th March 2005. We pulled over on the side of the road between Morwell and Mirboo North.

“Chook (now her name) was wild when I first came here. Now, if I’m a bit slow feeding her, she walks up the veranda steps and looks through the glass front door.”
