Angela

This photo is from Angela in Ulverstone.

Angela has already lived an adventurous life.

She has been a traveller. The sort of travelling that a good friend of mine calls “close to the ground”. Old cars, epic journeys, breakdowns, running out of food and money. Dust, wind and rain, and the steamy tropical heat and monsoonal downpours of the North.

Camping on the banks of the Murray River waiting for the dole so that she could eat.

And move on.

Now she has a son.

And new a career.

And a new house.

She does handstands and cartwheels on the beach.

She laments the simple and aimless life she used to live.

I call her unrealistic – living like that is at the cost of security, something we don’t think about too much when we’re young, which is good of course. The trick now is to find a balance :-)

I also tell her what a success she is.
