20th February 2010 Seven mile beach
I first met these guys at a park in New Norfolk. This was our second meeting, at the beach.

Fergus is the one with Fonzie’s tail in his mouth. He grabs Fonzies tail so often that Fonzie seems indifferent to it.

Fonzie is an athlete and ball dog. Fergus a socialite and a tail dog. If he isn’t occupied with chasing Fonzie’s tail, Fergus will be off making friends with whoever else is around.

Like all ball dogs, Fonzie has a knack of finding tennis balls. On the few occasions that he can’t find a tennis ball, he’ll come up with a substitute, like a pine cone.

2nd April 2010 Somerset
Somerset! I should have written something shortly after this trip. It was over Easter, but the place seemed deserted. The north coast of Tassie, from Devonport to Wynyard, I found pretty boring previously. It seems mostly industrial.

I ended up liking Somerset. It is a fairly big suburb that is bordered by a beautiful beach. The beach never had many people on it; the few people I did see on it looked as though they were doing their regular walk or families getting together over Easter.

It was good to see locals enjoying their beach.

20th May 2010 Coles Bay
We went for a walk into the township of Coles Bay from Swanwick beach. It was a beautiful morning, but on the way back the clouds started looking ominous.

Changable weather is typical of Tasmania. The great thing about it is that it teaches you not to take good weather for granted and to make the most of the day.

5th December 2009, Boat Harbour
For Tasmania, the days probably don’t get much better than this. Although I still haven’t seen anyone swim without a wetsuit.

Andy’s phone line is down, so I am taking advantage of his absence by putting a photo of him on poohduck today. This was taken whilst we were on holidays at Foster in September 2005. It was one of the sunrise excursions. Usually we took a week away each school holidays and at least one morning would aim to photograph the sunrise.
Andy is very still, quiet and patient when he is taking photos. He seems conscious of what he is doing and uses all the knobs on the camera and the tripod. He considers everything. I am random and get 50 shots of which one may be decent if I’m lucky. It’s not my thing!
I don’t think I’ve seen a sunrise this year!

“Another one from that photographically productive weekend at Phillip Island. I remember taking this and thinking it wouldn’t be a good shot – the shot was more of a half hearted effort. I really like it. It used to make me think it could have been a scene from pre European occupation (just the people in the foreground, standing in the water). After cropping, I decided to make it wider; it didn’t seem to work at the smaller size. It was March 12th 2005″

I remember Andy took some beautiful photos on the pier that weekend too. I hope he will send some of those soon, I loved the light and sense of movement in them.
I also remember that weekend, we couldn’t take Ella and she missed Andy so much. Every time I rang my kids (who were babysitting her) they sounded frantic, trying to make her happy.
