This is the last of the lichen shots Andy sent me from his last walk. Best he gets his walking boots back on and gathers some more;>)

“Rosie, the Pandani Bushwalking Club botanist, told me about the lichen flower. In the bowl shaped thing of the flower are the spores. When a rain drop lands in the bowl the spores get shot out all over the place; that’s the way it’s designed. I’m sure she explained it more intelligently than that, and that she(Rosie) would probably wince at my interpretaion.”

“Another walk with the Pandani Bushwalking Club. This is the flower of some lichen. I found it while we were looking for little bits of coloured tape on trees to guide us through the bush to a mountain. Sun 15th June, 2008.”

“I went for a walk on Sunday (18 May 08) with the Pandani Bushwalking Club. I found these mushies in the Myrtle forest area, only about 20km from Hobart. It was an exercise in speed photography because I didn’t want the club members to worry about me and wait down the track. I ended up carrying the camera mounted on the tripod for most of the walk to save time.”
